I am living my best life and happier than I could have ever imagined possible. I am witnessing the same in the five children I have been blessed with in my life. I have been through some things in my life that have been incredibly painful; however, once I began to let the light in, everything changed for me.
I began to realize that I was living in the darkness. I was having a lot of different struggles coming at me from all different directions. I thought this was because I was a bad person and I was being punished. My logical brain was telling me that I deserved it, that was the only thing that made sense to me.
I came across the song “The Light” by Disturbed and I clung onto it as a lifeline for quite some time. The line “Don’t let hope become a memory” was something I repeated regularly over and over to myself.

I understand now this was the beginning of my Awakening to finding out who I am. It started out striking a match; having a tiny bit of light until that match burned out. Eventually I had a flashlight until the battery burned out. Then it was driving at night with headlights. Now the dark moments are few and far between.
The light will always overpower the darkness, no matter how small and fleeting it is. I have heard many times that there are no accidents and that everything happens for a reason. Personally, I think it is all about choices.
I don’t think it matters really. What I do know is that no matter the choices I make, there is beauty and blessed opportunity in everything if I am willing to see it and receive it.
The Sunflower is intriguing to me. When it is younger and growing, it moves with the sun, starting out facing the east in the morning and moving to the west throughout the day with the sun. Eventually, when matured, it settles on facing east. East facing flowers attract more pollinators. I feel that this describes my journey well. I have become more comfortable with the light and that has made all the difference for me.
